Bard of Blood is a newly released series starring Emran Hashmi in the lead role. The theatre version of the book by Bilal Siddiqi by the same name. The multilingual espionage revolves around Kabir Anand, a school teacher who lives a parallel life of an excommunicated sleeper agent known as Adonis.
An undercover agent who had a heartbreaking experience of losing his fellow for which Anand blames himself & take solace in the world of books.
He didn’t expect his destiny would take him back there. 4 Indians were made hostage in Balochistan by the Taliban which takes him on a mission to rescue them along with Isha Khanna (Shobhita Dhulipala) & Veer (Vineet Kumar). Wherein Isha is an analyst underestimated in the male-dominated on-field job.
While Veer disguises himself as an opium smuggler. The Netflix original directed by Ribhu Das Gupta got a mixed reaction from the audience, a few appreciated the suspense and thrill but the dialogues were found to be mostly cliche & failed to match up to the expectations of the audience as per the thrilling plot.
Also, heavy emphasis is placed on the Taliban’s seat of power deviating from the main plot which tends to strech the series a bit.
The writing has been criticized for not being natural rather being spontaneous and dark and not so synchronous with the plot. Acting is commendable which never fails to keep the audience engaged and makes the show a must binge-watch!
