Sometimes, to get into the skin of the character, celebs end up affecting their mental and physical health too. In the Bollywood industry, many celebs did a mindblowing job to make their character look real and believable and in return, faced the consequences. Ayushmann Khurrana- Andhadhun
The multi-talented actor impressed everyone with his acting skills. For the role of the award-winning character, Ayushmann used to visit blind schools to observe the daily routine of visually challenged people.
Shahid Kapoor – Kabir Singh
Shahid majorly portrayed the role of an alcoholic surgeon in the film and for that, he gained 8 kgs to look bloated. To seem like a smoker, he had to smoke 20 cigarettes a day.
Ranveer Singh – Padmaavat
To get in the skin of Alauddin Khilji, Ranveer Singh would lock himself in his apartment for days. The actor got so much into the character that his reactions and behavior started affecting the people in his real life. To get out of the character, Ranveer had to take psychiatric help.
Rajkummar Rao – Trapped
To look like a lean man getting trapped in his own house, Rajkummar ate nothing but carrots and drank coffee for 20 days. He said it was mentally exhausting for him to live in that space & eat almost nothing. He faced blackouts & frustration thus he ended up sitting quietly for long hours.
Saif Ali Khan- Laal Kaptaan
Saif Ali Khan plays the role of a Naga Sadhu in the film. It was quite interesting for him to step into the shoes of Laal Kaptaan as he had a keen interest in reading about bandits & in general history.

To play the role of the famous athlete Milkha Singh, Farhan Akhtar went through massive physical transformation. The actor sweated out for 13 months to transform his body and get the perfect look of an athlete along with following a liquid diet thrice in those 13 months.
Randeep Hooda – Sarbjit
Randeep for his role in and as Sarbjit lost weight by following a zero-calorie diet. As he was not able to eat anything, the actor used to sketch his favorite food on paper.
Aamir Khan – Dangal
Mr. Perfectionist of the Bollywood industry played two roles (father and wrestler) in Dangal. For the character of Mahabir Singh Phogat as a father, he gained fat & extra calories while for his role as a young wrestler, he did heavy leg workouts to build the muscular look.
Ranbir Kapoor – Sanju
Ranbir played the actor Sanjay Dutt on-screen in the movie Sanju. To adapt Dutt’s mannerism and body language, Ranbir visited Sanjay’s house to observe his life closely especially the mannerisms and the swag of Sanju Baba!
Priyanka Chopra – Mary Kom
PeeCee worked hard to play the character of the boxer ‘Mary Kom’. She underwent three months of rigorous training to change her body structure under the boxing coach to replicate the moves of the world boxing champion.
Kangana Ranaut – Manikarnika The Queen Of Jhansi
Kangana Ranaut played the role of Rani Laxmibai on the silver screen. For such a fierce and bold character, the Queen actress learned all the required skills for action sequences. To replicate Rani Laxmibai on screen she practiced sword fighting for almost 8 hours a day.
Hrithik Roshan – Guzaarish
Hrithik, in order to portray the character of a bedridden paralyzed magician, gained a tremendous amount of weight. Although, it took him 10 weeks to shed all the extra weight that he had gained.
Alia Bhatt – Udta Punjab
Alia portrayed the role of a migrant laborer in the movie and was given a look that of a farmer. To portray the role with perfection, Alia didn’t wash her hair for twenty days.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui – Raman Raghav 2.0
The actor played the role of a psycho serial killer in the movie and while prepping up for the role, he left his home for two days without informing anybody. It is even said that, once, he fell unconscious during the shoot and started repeating his lines.
Ranveer Singh- Gully Boy
In Gully Boy, actor Ranveer Singh depicts the role of an underground rapper. To pick up rapping, Ranveer took 10 months of training from rappers Divine and Naezy.
