Nawazuddin Siddiqui Bags Golden Dragon Award, A Proud Moment For India

From Sarfarosh to Housefull 4, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, one of the finest actors that Bollywood has today, has not only brought immense fame and change to himself but has also changed the definition of dramatics as well as performing arts. And to mark this legendary actor and his renowned performance, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has lately been awarded the prestigious Golden Dragon Award at the Cardiff International Film Festival in Cardiff, Wales.

He was awarded under the label of “Excellence in Cinema in The Global Arena” by the Counsel General Of Wales, UK, Mick Antoniw. He shared this news with the whole world via tweet where he also congratulated the veteran actor Judi Dench, who was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement award.

His fans responded with much appreciation of his work and congratulated him for the same. His struggles were as adverse as his journey is inspiring today. Nawazuddin graduated with a B.Sc degree in Chemistry from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. He then spent the next 1 year of his life working as a chemist in Vadodara. Upset with his low-wage job, he moved to Delhi in search of a new job for a more promising life. He had no dream of becoming an actor until one day, he went to watch a play and was instantly drawn to theatrics and dramatics.

Siddiqui worked extremely hard in order to seek admission into the top drama schools, National Drama School (NSD) of Delhi. He acted in around 10 plays, to fulfill the criteria of admission in NSD. After graduating from NSD in 1996, he went to Mumbai in order to turn his dreams into reality.  But life proved out to be much harder and struggling than ever before. In 1999, he made his debut in Sarfarsosh with a small role. He got various small roles alongside many great actors but his luck didn’t seem to work out. In 2004, he wasn’t even able to pay his rent!

It was in 2010 when he got his first major breakthrough through Anusha Rizvi’s Peepli Live. He then appeared in various movies like Talaash, Patang: The Kite, Kahaani, Miss Lovely, Aatma, etc. He received his another breakthrough with Gangs Of Wasseypur in 2013. Since then, every another release of his is a breakthrough in itself!

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has received various accolades for his immaculate performances and acting skills. He has been awarded internationally as “Best Performance by An Actor” in Asia Pacific Screen Awards and “Best Actor” in New York Indian Film Festival. The winning of the Golden Dragon Award adds the cherry on the cake!
