The Earth is spinning way faster than it spun 50 years ago. According to scientists, each day are becoming shorter little by little, which is caused by faster spin of earth. which has increased over the last half Century.
According to reports of July 2020, everyday is taking less than 24hrs, since the data collection began from 1960s. 19th July, 2020 was the shortest day, 1.5 milliseconds less than 24hrs. This opposed the previous records, as we knew that Earth is slowing down it’s spin and a day would take a little more than a regular day.
A study proposed that, this kind of behavior maybe caused by Global Warming. The melting of ice glaciers is mainly responsible for the faster spinning of our Earth.
Why this type of little difference of timing makes a difference?
It is important. Atomic clocks have to be sync with Solar time to keep satellite & other communication devices in sync to function properly.
